How YOU can help

Lwa-Kisa School, Nansana
I and J Kibuuka, Administrators

There are many ways in which you can help in this worthwhile undertaking. You can donate by giving money for a specific thing. Or you can give your time and expertise personally.

Kisa Primary School is accepting volunteers to serve as teachers, tutors and assistant teachers for the school year.  Assignments are for approximately 3 months. The first term in 2009 starts February 1.

Subjects include English composition and grammar, math, science, social studies, music, art, athletics and computer skills. Volunteers with skills in carpentry or  gardening would also be welcome.

Room and board will be provided at the school for $600/ month. Volunteers will be requested to make a $500 cash donation to the school. Volunteers provide their own transportation to and from Uganda. Kisa School will provide transportation to and from the airport. Trips to nearby historical sites and cultural events will be arranged by the school during the school term. Volunteers will also be free to travel around the area on weekends. Kisa Primary School is in Nansana, Uganda, a busy trading center
7 Km from Kampala. Taxis and boda-bodas offer rapid, cheap transportation into Kampala.

You can sponsor one or more children ($50 for a month, $100 for a term or $300 for a year). Maybe you might want to help pay for a teacher’s salary ($70-$100 a month). You could also think of visiting the school - and that could be a life-altering experience for all concerned.

As you can see, the possibilities are many and quite varied for your humane generosity. Thank you very much for any and everything you may be able to do to help.
